Ankara Single Malt Whisky Club |

History As with many things in life I never thought I would be running a single malt whisky club in Ankara, Turkey. It all started from a chance encounter with an Italian diplomat who had enjoyed tasting with an Australian while they were both stationed in southern China. After telling me the story a few times and encouraging me to organise a tasting we finally kicked off the Ankara Single Malt Whisky Club with and inaugural tasting on 6th January 2005. Since then we have worked our way through many single malt from Scotland and just to add a bit of fun we have enjoyed whiskies from Japan, Germany, Wales, USA and Canada. |

What We Do Typically early on a Saturday evening we gather to taste and compare 3 whiskies. As there are always a few new people I go over the general process of how to asses a whisky for colour, nose, taste and finish. After the tasting many stay for a meal and a few other refreshments. |

News—Saturday 24th April 2010 This tasting was all about the Casks or Barrels. Starting with the Glenmorangie Port Finish going to the single cask Balvenie and finishing with a Glenmorangie Nectar D’or. The main point was to explore how the pioneering of Glenmorangie in creating different finishes compared to the single barrel Balvenie. There was good support for the Nectar and the Port Finish but it seemed that the Balvenie was less than popular. As always a good night was had by all. I look forward to seeing many of you there at the next tasting.
